DFlexXx – Today
DFlexXx aka Cardiff born Welsh rapper Darnell Ramone Williams has a unique, credible and commercial sound that is a blend of hip hop and trap – predominantly rooted in the contemporary UK rap scene.
DFlexXx lists his inspirations as Chris Brown, Drake, Tyga, Travis Scott and Lil Wayne and is also influenced by the 90’s era in which he grew up in.
He found and developed his performing skills from the young age of six years old from being a member of dance troop Jukebox Juniors, who were the first kids group in Wales to become known on the International stage, and were featured in a documentary by the BBC and came second on Sky 1’s popular TV dance competition and show Got to Dance.
DFlexXx is a prolific songwriter. The track “Today” is about pier pressure in today’s society. It was influenced by Tyga’s “Good Day” and Ice Cube’s “Good Day.” The track has a catchy chorus and high energy. “Today” is produced by Farra from Cardiff, who’s had credits with G Unit, Wiz Khalifa, Sony Music, just to name a few.
After studying music at Bridgend College and ACM London, DFlexXx discovered that he had a natural talent for rapping and songwriting, and so decided to pursue the path of a professional rapper. Following more successes; in leading a trio to win the best Welsh group competition, and also winning a slot in the top five in a UK unsigned event – DFlexXx decided to go solo. Since then he has been busy perfecting his skills recording songs and making videos, and is currently working with the BBC on a documentary that they are making about British talent.
DFlexXx is currently busy writing and recording his EP, named Late Summer EP.
“Everyone seems to have been following the same trend for a long time. So, I like to stay in my own lane and remain as different as I can. If it’s my performance, sound and even my style – I try my best to become as memorable as possible,” DFlexXx says. “Something that lasts doesn’t come overnight.”
